Lukáš Souček.

I remember that first bottle like it was today — a Lagavulin 1991 Distillers Edition. Over a game of darts at a friend's place in Strašnice, sometime around 2019. My friend's name is Shane. For years nobody paid it any attention; it was waiting for me, to carry me into the world of Scotch whisky. This page is about the journey, not the destination.

Before it became an obsession.

It wasn't so long ago that I was buying the basics — Dalmore, Glenlivet, the Islay distilleries, Glenmorangie, Arran and plenty more. Going shyly to tastings, studying not just reviews and distillery notes late into the night, but the auctions too.

One time in Italy I came across Chorlton Whisky, and from then on I had a thread to follow. After a while I began opening bottles from this collection of mine, tasting them and hosting tastings. From the reactions of my whisky friends it was clear even then that this path made sense.

Distillery roads and a few coincidences.

Over three years I visited more than half of Scotland's 150-plus distilleries and met no end of good people. Through a mix of effort and chance, here I now stand — representing, in both the Czech Republic and Scotland, respected independent bottlers such as Finn Thomson Whisky, Living Souls, Chorlton Whisky and Whisky Craft.

    První trip s Jendou, Zdeňkem a Láďou. Deanston, Tullibardine, Aberfeldy, Glenturret, Blair Athol… Začalo to z ostra. Náhodně koupená lahev Bennrinnes 11 od Finn Thomson Whisky. Netušil jsem, že za pár let s Finnem budeme kamarádi.

    Islay se Shanem. Ten, u kterého se tehdy zázračně „odpařila“ lahev Lagavulin 1991 během hrávání šipek ve Strašnicích. Teď spolu na ostrově, kde to všechno voní rašelinou a mořem. Palírna Lagavulin byla jedna z navštívených.

Four collections. Prague as the base.

Today I work with four independent bottlers: Finn Thomson Whisky, Living Souls, Chorlton Whisky and Whisky Craft. Each has its own handwriting. From Glasgow to Manchester, from Edinburgh to Islay.

Alongside the shop I run curated tastings — at home, in galleries, inside companies. If you want to meet whisky face to face, that's the best way in.
